قَالَ لي عَبْد اللَّه بْن عُثْمَانَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْن الْمُبَارَكِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْن يَحْيَى الْمَعَافِرِيُّ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ حَمَى مُؤْمِنًا مِنْ مُنَافِقٍ بِغِيبَةٍ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَلَكًا يَحْمِي لَحْمَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ "
